Danica has been warned to stay away from the old oak tree at the end of her grandmother’s estate. An innocent, but with a defiant spirit, she normally rejects her grandmother’s advice. Not so with the oak tree. For years she avoids going near it.

One day a young boy appears. She sees him sporadically and he fascinates her. He has an allure Danica can’t explain and eventually she takes to teasing him from her bedroom window.

Blood on the Harvest Moon is a short story about the intentional loss of innocence. Danica doesn’t know her teasing is really preparing an invitation to give up her soul and enter another realm. The story, an offering in the horror genre, is slightly erotic, slightly creepy and definitely the stuff of nightmares.

If Stella and Audra Price write horror as their genre of choice, they should stick with it. They have a Stephen King sense of timing. Unfortunately for these two, Mardi Gras Publishing is now defunct, and the story lacked proper editing and formatting. Hopefully this story will appear elsewhere and get the professional attention it deserves. If you enjoy this genre, you should enjoy this fifteen minute read.

It’s not everyday that a book comes along that makes you giggle because it’s just pure fun, but that’s what Wonder Witch by Ashlyn Chase does for the reader.

Part of Ellora’s Cave Torrid Tarrot series(Queen of Wands), Ashlyn Chase takes you on a hot, rocking , erotic adventure that features a group of women with supernatural abilities, snarky attitudes and real life problems with men, homones, and monthly cycles.

In Wonder Witch, the heroine, Joell, accompanied by her familiar, a cat named Crowe and her compatriots attempt to find eight male romance models who’ve been kidnapped. The crimes against these sexy men occurred at a romance convention to boot. Despite PMS’ing and being just plain ol’ tired from their kicking butts all over the globe, Joell convinces some of the team to help her retrieve the missing men.

The story is for the most part told from the vantage point of Crowe and it is his irreverent attitude that provides a large part of the humor in this slightly over 100 pages of erotic reading. Missing models, a sexy cop helping Joell and company, and a frantic agent anxious to get his guys back on the runway give Crowe plenty of ammunition for his snarkiness. Then there is the kidnapper. His motivations for secreting the men away just adds to the fun and surprises the reader encounters with Wonder Witch.

If you’re looking for serious and heavy, this book in not for you. But, for kick butt fun and erotic situations, you won’t miss with Wonder Witch.

Every once in a while there is a story you purchase with high hopes of being something more. Gamenet: Into the Jaws of the Dragon by Michael Barnette was not that story.

The plot leaned heavily toward mediocre. Laredo, a bad ass who wants to kill the hero, Jason, sets a trap, using Jason’s wife as the bait. Disarming some of the Wasters’s tricks, Jason goes willingly toward the slaughter, Kimi at the forefront of his thoughts. Nasty gun battles ensue with lots of heads exploding leaving people “messily dead”.

Unfortunately, Laredo is stupid and not a worthy enemy of our hero who has a bit more street smarts going for him. The Wasters Laredo hires are just that–wasted characters who add little to the appeal of the story.

Illogical point of view shifts, incomplete sentences, thoughts and descriptions a character can’t or shouldn’t have as well as a lack of a clear foundation for understanding the story world further disappoint.

This is really too bad. The Gamenet series of stories had a lot of potential. Major plot and theme questions, like “Why has the population embraced the games of the Arena?”, “Why are there people with animal spirits residing within them?” and “What happened to create this alternate society?” are among a host of puzzles not answered. Gamenet: Into the Jaws of the Dragon did not deliver.

Skylar Creighton is diagnosed with stage four cancer and told that she has a mere one to two months to live. She prepares herself to leave the world on her own terms. If the pain should grow too strong to bear, she has a gun to end her own suffering. Into a bag it is packed with other items to make a final trip. One of the things she takes is her favorite first edition book Crossing Oceans, Crossing Swords: The True Adventures of Captain Rand Edward Jamison. It is a pirate’s journal and through it she lost her heart to the writer some time ago.

As she is readying to leave her bookstore for the last time, a homeless man she knows stumbles in injured. His attacker is quick to follow, demanding the man’s piece of green rock. She feels the victim press the stone into her hand and suddenly finds herself in an old time ship’s cabin…of the captain whose exploits she has pored over so often and who has starred in her fantasies for so long.

When Rand discovers someone hiding in his personal cabin on the Red Sky, he is certain that it is an assassin sent by his enemy Captain Owain Cutler. It doesn’t take long however to discover that the person is a female and even more curiously reminds him of his late and deeply beloved wife Emma.

Ms Storey continues to please with her heartfelt and heated romances. In this time travel tale, we are given much excitement in battle between ships and in seduction in the bedroom…er, cabin. A magical sistrum is behind the bringing together of Skylar and Rand. Meanwhile, a dastardly villain of a half-brother is resolute in attempts to steal the item, triumph over his sibling, and bring the woman he insists he loves to his side.

There was a bit of stilted dialogue between the hero and heroine at the beginning when they meet, but that smooths over quite quickly to a more natural flow. We are then quickly swept away thoroughly into the story. Tragic expectations for the romance as it seems to echo the Captain’s previous loss gives a poignancy to the account of these lovers. Issue of whether tis better to know one’s future in order to avoid difficulties or to live life as best one can without manipulating with foreknowledge is interesting to consider and is touched upon here.

Both main characters are strong and well rounded. Skylar’s pluck in the face of the realities of 18th century shipboard situations on a pirate vessel will rouse admiration and mirth. Hero, Rand, is protective, loving, and more honorable than the average brigand. His acceptance that there are things that cannot be explained in the world is unusual and makes us more receptive to the twists and turns in the book.

For romance readers who love action and adventure in and out of the bedroom, this one’s for you…This Time Forever.

Hailey Meredith has all but given up in the search for her true love. The depth of her desperation to find him even has her trying a special brew from her Aunt Tabby. It is a concoction that is supposed to allow her soulmate to find her.

This magic drink, as well as, a beautiful Fabergé egg are instrumental in calling her elusive love of all time. When the man she longs for shows up in her life, she will realize that she has been looking for love in all the wrong places. After all, he’s not from around here.

Prince Tynan is from the Faerie realm. His own search for his perfect mate has led to naught. With permission from the Queen, he ventures forth from the Faerie Court to continue in his hunt. His senses take him to Devon Falls, and a bit of motherly interference has him haunted with the music of love that leads right to his heart’s desire.

This is the nicely spicy second book in Raine Delight’s Holiday Series and the reviewer’s introduction to the author’s writing. One must say that there is a good basic plot to Charmed Magic and the scenes between hero and heroine are sensuous enough to keep one turning the pages, so to speak.

The difficulty lies with dialogue that didn’t have a natural feel to it and a lack of depth in both the characters and the story itself. A longer book would have allowed for more detail to flesh out Hailey and Tynan. It would also likely have permitted a more creditable build up to the story and explanations for how a Fabergé egg could be purchased in a small town by someone who is not portrayed as wealthy.

Ms Delight could have benefited from an editor who used her red pen more liberally. All the same, the underlying talent in writing erotic romance is visible and one hopes that the future works offered will have more substance and polish.

Across a Crowded Room by Tom Knutson and Cara Preston is a slightly different take on romantic poetry. Together they form a him and her stimulus/response/action/reaction sort of flow to a variety of topics of interest to new lovers.

This ying and yang flow gives a nice balance of his and her perspectives. My favorite of the bunch had to be I wish I looked like that where the author, probably Mr. Knutson, reminded the woman on his arm that he didn’t need her to look like a child trying to look like an adult. At times, the meter is a bit simplistic, and if you are looking for poetry with heavy rhyming schemes, you won’t find it here. Rather, this reads more like a stream of consciousness recollection of searching for love, getting over those awkward beginnings and finding the person you want to be with.

If you enjoy poetry, especially of a romantic bent, you will probably find a poem or two to tickle your fancy in Across a Crowded Room .

Modern woman and advertising executive, Dana Perrin is a strong woman with a good career in the corporate world. She wheels and deals with best of the most influential men in her field. However, one night while on her way to the airport, fate intervened in the form of a bolt of lightning and the next Dana knew she found herself toss back in time!

Could the flashes of fog, cobblestone streets, and an old English mansion could be the result of a bump on the head? She thought it was… until she meets a sinister old butler who talks about carriages, calling cards, and chaperons.

To her realization, Dane found herself trapped within the pages of her favorite historical romance novel where she meets the handsome hero in sensual flesh… and blood!

This book has a great premise as Dayna finds herself pulled into the pages of her romance novel. It’s a short read that is fun and extremely sexy. Ms Godwin has a true talent in creating likable characters who you want to see triumph in the end.

My only regret with this story was that it wasn’t a bit longer to more fully flush out some of the details, but all in all a fun story well worth reading.

FEEL MY HEART by Barbara Harrison is a Romantic Suspense with paranormal elements. Set in Wyoming in a small town, where historically there has been a land and history feud between the Montgomery’s and the Dancer’s. Jessie Montgomery, the town’s librarian and Alex “Spirit” Dancer, are bound together by heart but fear togetherness from history.

Jessie and Spirit realize their ability to feel each others heart and a path exists to each others heart and when open, they can know what each is feeling.

With the historical feud, Spirit’s father has also taken a crusade against the town of Montgomery and the Montgomery’s. With Jessie and Spirit’s growing feelings of love between them, they hide their love for one another from their families and the town in fear. They were meant to be together but it didn’t mean they could be together.

When a woman is missing for time, the Sheriff becomes disappointed in Spirit being able to find her and questions his ability to find others as he did with Jessie years ago. When Jessie goes missing, this time through kidnapping, can Spirit’s heart find her again? Can the families pull together to help them find one another again?
FEEL MY HEART by Barbara Harrison was an outstanding story filled with an enrichment of history of the Dancer’s and Montgomery’s land settlement feud which will have the reader fully feeling and understanding the feelings between the two families.

The strength of Spirit and Jessie’s love is beautifully loving and sensual. With two individuals deeply feeling each others heart in love and need, this author Barbara Harrison, gives the reader an emotional ride of empathy for them both and a quest for them to be together. The reader will be moved in emotion throughout the story and from beginning to end, hearts will be racing to see everyone come together again. Every brother of both families deserve to have their love and hopefully their story told by Barbara Harrison. Very highly recommended read and one author to look forward.

David Bradley has become a work-a-holic and in the process has alienated himself from the woman he loves. But, he’s working hard to give Mary the things she deserves, and besides, its been so long since he’s touched her, no way would she want to make love to him now. Too much water has passed under the bridge.

Mary Bradley loves her husband but he’s so distant. Ever since he started his company, he’s been attached to his computer as if it were the woman he loved and not her. Life with her vibrator is getting boring, but what’s a healthy woman to do?

Enter Santa and Mrs. Clause. They are both on a mission to set these two lovers back on the right course. If only they could get David and Mary to say those three little, all important words…”I love you.”

Christmas Magic was a little reminder to all of us to count our blessings and not let the gift of love slip through our fingers. Marianne La Croix hit an emotional jackpot with this contemporary cross between A Christmas Carol and It’s a Wonderful Life.
