It is talented sculptress Dawn Birmingham’s birthday and her best friends want to give her something that will perk up her love life. Little do they know exactly how successful they will be when they take the birthday girl to adult toy store Don’t Spank the Vamp.
Co-owner of the store Aithne gives a reading and predicts good things coming into Dawn’s life…including her soulmate. A serious decision to be made is also foretold. The emotions of the listeners range from belief to skepticism. They are irregardless invited to a party being thrown at the store that evening.
The other owner of the store is upstairs during the encounter and is immediately drawn to a woman’s laughter and voice. Aidan bides his time till night and emerges to meet this intriguing female. He is immediately certain that this is his “twin flame” that other who completes him.
He goes about her seduction and hopes for her love but will she be able to accept him for all that he is?
Our hero is sexy with a decided leaning towards play. Aidan takes the phrase”boys and their toys” and turns it in this tale. Though we might wish he were honest from earlier on in the story readers will enjoy seeing this male vamp in love and lust.
He is secluded in the day and we assume that his business partner/sister Aithne would have more contact with people than he. It is therefore surprising that her manner of speech is so much more formal and foreign in phrasing than Aidan’s.
Dawn’s character is fun taking advantage of feeling her subject and using it to good effect as an artist and a woman. One might not agree with her regarding her discovery of the truth and in the area of betrayal. Concern focused not on what he was but lack of trust and this felt somewhat strange.
Likewise, the description of the heroine’s genitalia as her “yoni” also jars. It is an ancient word but not one commonly used even in thought by contemporary women.
Still this is a fast and fun read with likeable characters and blazing sex scenes. It would be a shame to miss finding out exactly why you Don’t Spank the Vamp.
