Dragon’s Heir by Sierra Dafoe

Elara Southerlin is a dragon shape shifter and daughter of the Dragon Queen, Melgara. In order to woo her, a pair of male dragons, Darrek and Rand, from feuding clans have been sent to Earth where she has been hidden . One is to become her husband and the other to be forever banished from Djarera. Things did not go according to plan and Elara ends up with two wonderful lovers. Though she loves them she is not in love with them. A recurring fantasy of a powerful and dangerous dragon makes her yearn for more.

Unfortunately, dragons go into Khef or a mating frenzy. It is her duty to marry in order to provide an heir and protect the males of their species from the violent fighting they would fall into if she were not to choose her mate. The decision must be made carefully for her choice will himself be the heir until their children are grown. But it may be too late with all option wrested from her hands.

Ms Dafoe gives us fiery sex scenes that will all but melt down a computer screen. Even better, she incorporates emotion into these scenes in such a compelling manner that one can hardly tear ones eyes away, so prepare yourself for a one sitting read.

The massive red haired Rand is a wonderfully warm male and contrasts nicely with the slighter and dark haired Darrek who is rather more cold and intense. The love and conflict between these two is written with a fine hand.

Elara is also captured well. Her mild rebelliousness in conversation with her mother will strike a chord with many. The yearning for the unknown someone who haunts her thoughts is a consistent thread.

A rogue dragon enters the story but is somewhat less well rendered and the relationship is given too little time to build convincingly though it is scorching all the same.

Dragon’s Heir is the second book in a series but the background is painted so well for this fascinating world that it can easily be a stand alone indulgence. If you are looking for an exquisitely spicy read, this one is very satisfying.

Please be aware that this book contains scenes with menage, m/m, and BDSM.
