Hailey Meredith has all but given up in the search for her true love. The depth of her desperation to find him even has her trying a special brew from her Aunt Tabby. It is a concoction that is supposed to allow her soulmate to find her.
This magic drink, as well as, a beautiful Fabergé egg are instrumental in calling her elusive love of all time. When the man she longs for shows up in her life, she will realize that she has been looking for love in all the wrong places. After all, he’s not from around here.
Prince Tynan is from the Faerie realm. His own search for his perfect mate has led to naught. With permission from the Queen, he ventures forth from the Faerie Court to continue in his hunt. His senses take him to Devon Falls, and a bit of motherly interference has him haunted with the music of love that leads right to his heart’s desire.
This is the nicely spicy second book in Raine Delight’s Holiday Series and the reviewer’s introduction to the author’s writing. One must say that there is a good basic plot to Charmed Magic and the scenes between hero and heroine are sensuous enough to keep one turning the pages, so to speak.
The difficulty lies with dialogue that didn’t have a natural feel to it and a lack of depth in both the characters and the story itself. A longer book would have allowed for more detail to flesh out Hailey and Tynan. It would also likely have permitted a more creditable build up to the story and explanations for how a Fabergé egg could be purchased in a small town by someone who is not portrayed as wealthy.
Ms Delight could have benefited from an editor who used her red pen more liberally. All the same, the underlying talent in writing erotic romance is visible and one hopes that the future works offered will have more substance and polish.
